Jorge L. Jimenez Macias: Jorge graduated from Tecnologico de Monterrey, in Mexico. He holds a Ph.D. from University of Leeds, United Kingdom. He has postdoctoral experience from Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Brown University under the training of Dr. Sean Lawler, focusing on drug delivery across the blood-tumor barrier of glioblastoma. Jorge enjoys dancing, listening and playing music, reading, learning new stuff and hanging out with friends.
Mohamed Ishan: Ishan completed his BS in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and earned his PhD in Developmental Biology from the University of Georgia, USA. He has worked on BMP and NF2 signaling pathways in the mesenchyme to understand their role in epithelial cell differentiation to form taste papilla. Ishan is very passionate about investigating deeper into cancer biology, particularly exploring the roles of cell signaling pathways in tumorigenesis. In his leisure time, Ishan enjoys playing badminton and exploring good restaurants.
Gee Young Lee: GeeYoung received her master's degree and Ph.D. from Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) in South Korea, where she studied the drug delivery system for cancer therapy and imaging. She completed two post-doctoral training at Emory University for nanomedicines for various solid cancers. Before returning to Emory, she worked at Morehouse School of Medicine for the translational research of laser-activated gold nanoparticles for head and neck cancer patients. Outside of the lab, GeeYoung enjoys indoor gardening, candle making, watching his teenage son's soccer games, and spending relaxed time with her family.
Tyler Judd: Tyler graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from the College of Charleston with a focus on rat behavioral modeling. He spent the last 5 years working at the CDC in the high containment division working with BSL 3 and BSL4 research. Tyler won 1st place in the SEAALAS Tech Talks in 2021 with his presentation on the "History of the Lab Rat". Outside of the lab, Tyler enjoys going to concerts, writing screenplays, and going on cruises. Tyler has also performed at Atlanta's Center for Puppetry Arts.
Zhengang Hu: Hu is an exchange student from China, and he is working on his M.D. degree with a focus on neurosurgery. His previous research has focused on the immune microenvironment of gliomas and epigenetic alterations in glioblastomas. He is enthusiastic about applying scientific findings to the clinical setting to predict and improve the prognosis of glioma patients. In the spare time, Hu likes playing basketball, hiking, and photography.
Your Name Here! We have openings to recruit a new postdoctoral fellow and a new graduate student or post-bacc student. Please reach out directly to Dr. Read by email at renee.read@emory.edu if you would like to learn more about our lab, and include your CV/resume and a short description of your research interests in your message if you are interested in joining us.
